Dead River Kennels is a family owned breeding program that is devoted to the promotion of the complete hunting and companion dog. We breed litters that we would want a puppy from, off dogs that we have kept after our discerning one year trial period on all of the puppies we raise. We typically raise a pup a year and normally find that puppy a home by about 8 or 9 months of age due to some trait or other that is just not quite meeting our demanding standard. Some pups have a lot of drive, but are not very biddable, or biddable but then soft on entry, etc. If we keep a pup, it will represent the best in drive, trainability and even-tempered companionship. These are our hunting dogs and daily companions. Our goal is to breed a puppy that will meet that same standard of high-drive in the field and calm behavior in the home that we look for in our dogs.
